About Me

Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

License #143952

Pronouns: She/Her

Carolina is passionate about helping clients embody a life of meaning and purpose. She finds great fulfillment in helping clients construct a life that aligns with their most deeply cherished values.

Carolina specializes in helping clients process past relational trauma and supports them in identifying, embodying, and expressing their emotional needs. Carolina aims to help clients develop secure attachment skills so that they may enjoy more fulfilling relationships.

Raised by a Mazatleca mother and Oregonian father, Carolina spent the first years of her life growing up in both San Diego, California, and Mazatlan, Sinaloa. She is fluent in English and Spanglish and aims to continually improve her Spanish-speaking skills. Her bicultural life experience has aided her in working with a wide range of clients, including but not limited to immigrants, second-generation Americans, and transcultural clients.

Carolina believes that the field of psychotherapy has a social responsibility to help liberate clients from all forms of oppression. As part of these efforts, Carolina has specialized in helping women nurture more self-compassion, courage, and self-confidence rather than reinforcing women's social conditioning to people please and seek external validation from those who wield power.

Carolina received her M.S. in Marriage and Family Therapy and her M.A. in Applied Linguistics, both from San Diego State University. Carolina's theoretical approach draws upon Narrative Therapy, Attachment Theory, and EMDR.

Carolina strongly believes in the importance of understanding clients’ intersecting identities (such as age, race, ethnicity, language, gender, sexual orientation, religion, neurodivergence, ability, and SES) and how societal discourses of power and privilege are inextricably tied to many of the problems which clients seek to address in therapy.
